I didn’t even know that the Viking houses would be brightly coloured until recently! It’s very typically Hollywood, to just have a certain look for locations or time periods – Middle Ages etc. is brown-grey and muddy, always; Mexico/Middle East is yellow, spy thrillers are cold blue. XD Suuuper annoying after a while…
And when everything is just pitch dark for “realism”, I just give up because realism or not, I want to see what the hell is going on! I’m able to suspend my disbelief for a bit, you know, what with the dragons and elves and stuff, so it’s not so hard to pretend that it would actually be super dark in this scene, but we wanted the viewers to see what’s happening.
