Because you can get Audacity (a free audio recording and editing suite) free here https://www.audacityteam.org/ and you can get free open source music on Pixabay and honestly, I record with a fairly basic microphone on my computer desk and then edit out the room noise in Audacity later.
It takes a bit of fiddling about before you can edit out the room noise without making your voice sound weird, but I think I've got it in chapter two, and that was even without taking the ticking clock off the wall.
