JGY really is custom made villain fodder, especially when Zhu Zanjin is so very cute and innocent looking. But the whole tragic backstory *and* the terrible abusive father, and the doomed relationship with someone who is the epitome of kindness and goodness, ah, it's just catnip. However, I do have a big soft spot for Jiang Cheng too. Jiang Cheng did nothing wrong! (Or at least, everything that Jiang Cheng does is perfectly understandable given his circumstances, which is all I need for sympathy.) And he does such a good job with his clan and his nephew. The man is doing his best in circumstances that everyone else keeps making difficult, leave him alone! :)
Shiome's fic *is* fantastic :) I have a whole list of bookmarked Xiyao fic that I could probably turn to to podfic next, but after your advice I might take another look at my own fic and see if I'm ready to carry on with it. I think I have been neglecting a lot of potential sources of drama that I could work into it :) Thank you!
