Yes, fortunately the lights are on a 12 Volt circuit and therefore not quite as dangerous as they could be, but you still don't want a bare wire adjacent to the wood cladding :) I'm personally not sure about the paintings, but several people took photos of them when we were moored up at the pub, so hopefully they fit with the 'charmingly naive' feel of the whole canal boat deal ;)
