Original fiction comm

I can't remember who I was talking to about how nice it would be to have a community in which to share original fiction. Because the journey to writing a novel is a long, lonely one and sometimes it's nice to have a bit of company and support along the way.

I was going to make a new community for the purpose, but first I thought I should check to see if there was already anything of the sort. And it turns out that there is!

That community is originalfiction

It was last updated 26 weeks ago, and for at least a year or so has only had one visibly active member, duskpeterson but there are a lot of people signed up with it who might be persuaded out of seclusion if there was activity. So perhaps rather than reinvent the wheel, the thing to do is to sign up to that one?

Oooh, interesting! What a great idea. *subscribes to the comm* And it looks like the admin is still around Dreamwidth, too, which is a nice bonus.

Definitely! I already follow duskpeterson and she's maybe more active on here than I am :)

Now I've just got to write some original fiction to put on there!

(Do you think we should do introduction posts rather than rocking up unannounced and dropping some fic? That might be polite.)

I was too slow to reply but I agree anyway, an intro can be a good opportunity to give people an easy way to say hi as well :) (Though I also think it wouldn't be a faux-pas to just post either, fwiw!! :D Options!)

I think it's worth a try! It sounds like the kind of space that could be appealing for this sort of thing. :)

Definitely! I did wonder if someone would have had the same idea first :) I don't currently have any original fic to put there, because I'm still working on a fanfic, but I might go and do an introduction post first just to make sure it's still okay.

I'm not surprised there's a community existing for it! I don't have anything to really share at the moment either, but at least it's a place to do so.
I know communities are tricky on DW, in terms of trying to keep up interest and participation, but maybe more people will show some interest in revitalizing it, too!
