I absolutely have the same kind of "okay, so... how do I say hi?" anxiety, so usually I just... dive in, lol.
I do like the bright and shiny that tumblr provides, and I definitely find a lot of neat stuff on there, but it certainly isn't conducive to long-form things, or personal things, or things you want to easily find again...
