Fanfic - Wedded Bliss also hello!

Gosh there are now so many people posting over here that it took me several hours to get to the bottom of my Reading Page! How cool! The more people talking over here, the less need there is to go anywhere else :)

Hello to everyone I've added today! It's great to have you on board.

Finished and posted chapter two of my Untamed fic Wedded Bliss, which is itself a tie in to my previous Untamed fic the same last name and the same coloured eyes.. After ten years of writing a minimum of 2000 words a day, followed by about five years of total writing block, I'm now finding a pace of 500 words a day doable and enjoyable.

The long term plan is to write a new novel, but for now getting my writing muscles working again by fanfic seems like a gentle way to get back into the swing of things.

500 words a day is enormous in my eyes, I'm glad you're enjoying this rythm !

Fanfic is a great way to flex the writing muscles tbh, congrats on posting that chapter :)

Thank you! Yes, 500 seems to be a sweet spot for me between having done enough to feel like I'm making progress, and being so intimidated by the length of it that I don't even start, but there's no rule that it should be that for everyone. If you went for 100 words a day you'd still have 36,500 words in a year, which is a good sized novella :)

I've personally long accepted that I am incapable of writing every single day and it leads to burnout every time ! The sweet spot for me seems to be having enough free time for one or two nice writing sessions per week (and I can't even count words, because I write on paper xD I apparently need to put it down physically before it can enter screen space)

I agree that every day is too much! I always give myself weekends off :) But yeah, I think the main thing is to find your own pace that you can keep up and not feel like your creativity is being wrung out of you until there is no more left.

Writing things down physically is a great idea. Not only does it slow the writing down enough so your brain can keep up (a problem I have with typing) but you also have a good excuse to buy some really nice notebooks :)

Yeah, I definitely agree. We're not wet towels to dry out...

And then, you own about 50 notebooks, while your main WIP is on loose pieces of paper thrown haphazardly in a binder :") (i'm half joking here, i do use my notebooks a lot :))

Notebooks are a joy in themselves, though. And you can always transfer some of the notes for the WIP into a specific notebook if you feel like it. (I wouldn't. I think the bits thrown into a binder is also a charming option :)

They are!! And once you have enough you start being known as the "notebook person" and suddenly people gift you a bunch :'D
(I'd genuinely manage to lose them, thrown in a binder is more efficient for this specific wip LMFAO)

Yay for writing and posting fic! :D I think 500 words is a really good number.

I also feel like there's more going on here now, I currently can#t really keep up. XD But it's great to see!

Yeah, 500 seems so manageable that even if I haven't written all day I can get to like 11 and think 'I'm sure I could get that out before bed' and usually I can. So I rarely get to the stage where I think 'oh, I've missed my chance for today.'

LOL! Yes, I never thought not being able to keep up would be a problem. But it's a good one to see. I could think about leaving some of the communities that don't really match my interests but which I only added to see a bit of movement on my dash!

What I like here is the complete lack of 'pile ons'. There are no hate posts about anyone, and no one ever says 'go and tell 'x' how bad they are'.

It's so friendly.

Admittedly I've never been anywhere where I was aware of pile-ons happening - I've been fortunate in the people I follow. But yeah, I really can't even imagine it happening here.

I do remember the old sporking communities on LJ with some trepidation though. It's good that we haven't imported that tradition from the old days.

I've seen it on Facebook. A post that gets a lot of likes gets shared a lot and new people start commenting. And if a post is really angry about something, people can get a bit nasty and start making personal comments about people they don't know personally.
