galadhirRe-potted my fig tree in a bigger pot. It was of course sleeping, so it won't notice that I've torn some of its roots to make sure it is no longer root-bound. Now it can wake up in the spring feeling a bit freer and maybe have figs on it again for several years to come.
The next size of pots is over £100, so hopefully it will be several years before it needs to move up again.
The fig tree is going to have a better year in 2025 than it did in 2024. I hope we all do too!

Date: 2025-01-01 06:42 pm (UTC)Happy New Year! The tree re-potting turned out to be reasonably easy (although a two person job). DH held the tree off the ground and I tugged at the pot, and it came off neatly at the second go - it was that root-bound. Figs are supposed to like an enclosed space for their root ball, but perhaps not that enclosed!

Date: 2025-01-01 06:46 pm (UTC)It really is! And the size also suddenly doubles, after going up in small gradiations in the lower sizes. Maybe nothing but trees need the big pots?
