Vaccination

Woohoo! Guess who got their first appointment for their first covid vaccination! Thursday next week I get my first dose, and the second dose on June 3rd.

It won't change any of my behaviour, but it will make me feel a lot better. Fingers crossed I don't catch it in the mean time, considering I will need to buy groceries some time this week.

Thank you! I can't wait. I feel like it may not change anything, but it should at least lift some of the underlying anxiety that's made this year so hard.

Also, thank you so much for commenting! I was agonizing over whether to comment on your post last night to wish you some more rain, but felt it might be a bit rude to just appear unannounced, and didn't. We share interests in permaculture and gardening, I think, though I only have a tiny town garden and I look at your posts about the ranch with awe.

Tiny town gardens count. Sometimes more than big ranch gardens. Anyway they are easier to weed.

Ha, that's very true :) It's going to be a miniature square of ecologically diverse food-scrubland before I'm through, I hope.

Congratulations! I will be so glad when it's my turn, and I heave a sigh of relief every time I see someone else getting theirs.

It does have a very spring-like feeling, like something that's been frozen slowly coming back to life. OTOH, I was buying groceries yesterday and everyone in there was standing around, chatting and crowding because they'd all had their vaccines and felt safe, and I was like "excuse me, you can still give it to me, so could you please stand slightly further away!" It's going to be a rough time for the younger people as all the oldies get done, I think.

I think you're right - there are a lot of people who think that because they got their vaccine, there's no reason to take other precautions. :/ I know at least in our area, the governor is pushing a lot of reminders about how we still need to distance and mask up, so I hope people mostly listen!

Yeah, if this year has taught me anything it's that you can only do your best and hope, but hopefully in an area that voted in a sensible governor, there will also be a lot of sensible people :)

Thank you! I'm already starting to angst about forgetting the time, or not finding the vaccination center or breaking down on the way. I really don't understand how there can be people who are offered this and turn it down.
